Five Films for February 3rd, 2022
1. Beautiful Boy (Amazon Prime)
I selected this film co-starring Steve Carrell and Timothee Chalamet because today is Maura Tierney’s birthday. She was born in 1965 and is best known for her television roles on ER and NewsRadio; however, she has been in several films including this one in which she gives a great performance.
Alternative Title to Watch - Insomnia ( HBO Max) Maura plays a supporting character in this 2002 thriller co-starring Al Pacino and Robin Williams.
2. Wedding Crashers (HBO Max)
I selected this comedy co-starring Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn because today is also Isla Fisher’s birthday and she gives a hilarious performance in this film. Isla was born in 1976 and her first film role was in 1993 in a tv movie titled Clowning Around 2.
Alternative Title to Watch - The Beach Bum (Hulu) Isla is joined by Matthew McConaughey and Snoop Dogg in this offbeat comedy directed by Harmony Korine.
3. The Birdcage (HBO Max)
I selected this film because today is also Nathan Lane’s birthday. He was born in 1956 and has played a variety of film and television roles. This film co-starring Robin Williams is often considered one of his best.
Alternative Title to Watch - Carrie Pilby (Netflix) - Nathan co-stars in this 2016 dramedy about a socially awkward teenager.
4. Willow (Disney Plus)
I selected this film because today is also Warwick Davis’s birthday. He was born in 1970 and has 90 acting credits according to IMDB. This film is one of his most well-known and beloved roles.
Alternative Title to Watch - Leprechaun (Tubi) - This 1993 film is another memorable role for Warwick as he starred not only in this film but in its many sequels as well. This film was also Jennifer Aniston’s first feature film role.
5. The Tomorrow Man (Hulu)
Keeping the birthday train rolling, I selected this film co-starring John Lithgow because today is Blythe Danner’s birthday. She was born in 1943 and in addition to being Gwyneth Paltrow’s mother, Blythe has well over 100 acting credits in her career and gives a strong performance in this 2019 dramedy.
Alternative Title to Watch - What They Had (HBO Max) This 2021 drama about a woman dealing with dementia and the effects on her family co-stars Hilary Swank, Michael Shannon, and Robert Forster.
